You have to start somewhere

This has been a week of new beginnings, here I am writing my first blog post, only 24 hours after having recorded my first podcast.

Both have been in my “Too Difficult Box” for too long. You know, that place where all your ideas, dreams, goals and tasks are that have hit a challenge you are not ready to face.

Whilst we sometimes but unpleasant ideas and tasks in the box, often they can be  some of your most brilliant, fulfilling ideas, full of the promise of creativity and interest. But for some reason, there they stay, in the darkness of the box, waiting for us to be in enough discomfort to face the demons they hold.

This weekend, I finally plucked up the courage to explore my reasons for not pursuing something  that was so important to me. I was paying for hosting, I have even bought equipment and signed up for software. Why could I not get started?

There is always a catalyst and on this occasion, it was the offer of collaboration, someone to stand by me whilst I took the risk, I was spurred into action by my sister who offered to stand by me whilst I faced these fears and that was all that I needed to get started. 

In the Elbie Ethos coaching framework, I was stuck in Explore with my negative mindset, it was time to move to the next stage, Learn and find my growth mindset 

This needs brutal honesty and after much self-coaching, I realised my primary reasons for being stuck were fear and IT apathy. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of ridicule, reluctance to learn how to use a new computer program to edit, I didn’t want to have to set up a new website or deal with the technical frustrations of equipment , passwords, terminology…

Bingo! We arrive at Breakthrough!

By allowing myself to acknowledge my concerns I was free be overtaken by my growth mindset and core values with engaging curiosity. What if it does work out? what if people actually like what I have to say? what if I enjoy it?

I have always been proud of my can-do attitude when it comes to mastering new things. acknowledging that I was limiting myself in this project cleared the way for my love of rising to the challenge to surface.

Impact

before I knew it, I had worked out how to use microphones, upload and change file formats remove ums and ers how do use Canva to design different size logos and images with AI.
One Podcast Prototype + One Blogpost = Two knowledge shares, much learning and a huge sense of achievement 

Evolve Today, I feel like a winner having brought to life two new creative ideas. In the process,  I have reinforced my sense of capability I have new skills and have been able to reflect on what I would do differently
